DMCA

WhatmyDesign respects intellectual property rights and expects the same from anyone who visits or interacts with this site. All original content published on WhatmyDesign, including written articles, photography, graphics, and design elements, is protected by copyright law. This policy explains what is protected, what is not, and how to report any infringement concerns.

What Copyright Protects on This Site

Copyright protection for WhatmyDesign’s content began automatically the moment it was created and published, in line with international agreements including the Berne Convention. No registration is required for basic protection to exist.

The following types of content on WhatmyDesign are protected:

  • Written content: All blog posts, articles, home decor guides, styling tips, and product descriptions, protected as literary works
  • Visuals: All photographs, graphics, illustrations, and logos created for or published on the site, protected as artistic works
  • Audio and video: Any podcast recordings, video walkthroughs, or background audio published on the site
  • Source code: The underlying code written to build and operate WhatmyDesign

What Copyright Does Not Cover

Not everything on WhatmyDesign (or any website) falls under copyright protection. The following are not protected:

  • Ideas and concepts: General decorating ideas, design themes, or styling concepts cannot be copyrighted
  • Names and titles: The site name, short phrases, and the domain name fall under trademark law, not copyright
  • Common layouts: A basic structural format or generic page design is not protected
  • Facts and raw data: Objective information, publicly available data, and common knowledge are not protected

  6. Your physical or electronic signature

Incomplete notices may not be acted upon. Please make sure all six elements are included before submitting.

  4. A statement that you consent to the jurisdiction of the federal court in your district, or, if outside the United States, any judicial district in which WhatmyDesign may be found
  5. Your physical or electronic signature

Upon receiving a valid counter-notice, WhatmyDesign may restore the removed content within 10 to 14 business days, unless the original claimant files a court action before that time.

Repeat Infringers

WhatmyDesign has a policy of terminating access for users who are found to be repeat infringers of intellectual property rights. Any user who repeatedly submits content that violates copyright may have their commenting privileges or site access removed without further notice.
